Statement of Academic Freedom

The Bologna Process* has identified Academic Freedom as ‘a fundamental democratic right’ which ‘shares elements with freedom of thought, opinion and expression’.  In this spirit, the Research Foundation supports, within the law, the academic freedom of all who undertake research at St John of God, enshrining a commitment to unfettered freedom of inquiry: to pursue and advance truth, knowledge and understanding without fear or favour.“
